Traveling is a vice that takes your time, money and energy, but makes you richer

For the born traveler, traveling is a besetting vice. Like other vices, it is imperious, demanding its victim’s time, money, energy and the sacrifice of comfort.  — Aldous Huxley

There are those that don’t like to travel and that don’t feel strongly either way. And then there are people like me (and probably you) who love to go out and experience the world, always looking for a new place to go, a new experience to have.

Yes, it takes significant time, money and energy, but we have some control of the comfort level thankfully, through our choice of destinations, lodging, the season of travel, and activities. And there is a big payoff to those expenditures.

Travel is the only thing you can buy that makes you richer — Anonymous

This is also very true. The more I travel, the more I learn about the world, the more empathetic I am to people’s circumstances and upbringing.  The more I learn about myself.  The more I learn to be self-reliant and brave and follow wherever my interests lead. The more I learn of various languages and cultures. The more I learn about things and activities I want to build into my life. The more cool stories and experiences I can draw on.  It makes me who I am.

Happy travels!
