Madurodam – Amsterdam area, the Netherlands

I was recently reminded of this wonderful place while I was in the Caribbean and saw a street named Maduro on one of the “Dutch” Islands.

I don’t know if it’s named after the same guy, but George Maduro was a law student in Curacao who was part of the Dutch resistance to the Nazi occupation.  He was caught and died at Dachau.

Madurodam was named in his honor and is just outside Amsterdam. It is a miniature exploration of Holland, with people whose clothes change with the weather.  The level of detail is amazing.

Somehow, I only seem to have 2 pictures right now, although I know I’ve taken hundreds.  Hopefully, I can update this in the near future with better ones, but this is at least a poor example of what they have and the level of detail.Barge - holland trip 066.jpgBarge - holland trip 065.jpge near future with better ones, but this is at least a poor example of what they have.
