Toledo Cathedral

The Toledo Cathedral was built in the 13th century in the Gothic style.  As with many religious buildings that have changed to accomodate local tastes over the years, the site had previously been an Islamic mosque.

The picture to the left is the retable of the Cathedral and was completed around the year 1500.

There are many attractive chapels inside the cathedral along the sides.

Stained glass windows are all around with renderings of saints and apostles as well as the colorful patterns commonly seen in church windows.

There is also an attractive cloister at the cathedral if you have time.  And a reflecting pool in the front as shown on the right.
